T Cross Ranch fly fishing vacation ranch in Dubois Wyoming

As the majestic, snow-packed Teton peaks; grassy, golden meadows; and splashing, cobalt streams of Wyoming pass by, you won’t be able to resist rolling down your windows. The climb through Togwotee Pass affords you and your family a glimpse of the famous Continental Divide at 9,658 feet elevation. Then, as the pine forests phase into red rock cliffs, you descend into Dubois.

The paved US 26 highway eventually gives way to the winding and rocky Horse Creek Road, which slowly folds into the most beautiful country you have ever seen. The T Cross Ranch isn’t far.

Your car finally jostles under the overhanging arch indicating the entrance to the great T Cross. Ten cabins nestle cozily in the pine trees. And the jagged peaks of the Absaroka Range, named for the area’s Native American heritage, tower over 13,000 feet.

The horse corral sets down to the south, and you catch a glimpse of your new best friend. Atop the hand-picked and well-trained horses the rugged mountain trails of the T Cross will reveal over the next week a myriad of wildlife, seen only in the greater Yellowstone area.

The T Cross Ranch has a timeless magic that you and your family feel from the moment you open your car doors and step back to the Old West.

“Welcome to the T Cross, the passport to your personal frontier.”

Lodging: Each cabin on the T Cross is unique. They range from small one-room/bathroom units to large multi-room units. You will find your week-long home nestled in the pine trees and featuring spectacular views in all directions. Enjoy the mornings and evenings on your private porch.

The cabins are decorated with a late 19th century feel. Furniture is all hand built. Each cabin includes a private bath, and one or several bedrooms. The ranch welcomes couples, families, or single guests.

After your day’s ride and fine dinner, relax in the hot tub under a sky of stars.
Kids' Program: The T Cross is a great place for the entire family. Our Kids’ Program has been developed to ensure a fun, eye-opening experience. Children will have the time of their lives as they explore, learn, and see a whole new world.

Let’s face it, it’s all about the riding. What child hasn’t dreamed of riding like the cowboys? Here is their chance. Our riding program is specifically tailored for all ages and riding experience. The Kids’ Wrangler works with children to teach them the ropes and rules of riding. The Kids’ Wrangler also keeps the rides safe, interesting, and at the right pace, so you don’t have to worry.

Thursday brings the legendary Gymkhana (games on horseback). Whether you are nine or 90, Gymkhana brings out the child in everyone. Compete with your trusted steed in barrels, pole bending, and relays.

With the shallow creek running through the ranch, no child can resist the chance to get wet! Upon request, kids can gang up with the help of the staff and go tubing. One evening during the week, s’mores are provided around the campfire down by the teepee. It’s a great time for the kids to get to know each other, too.

Kids are carefree and spontaneous. Our Kids’ Program is too. From lawn games in the evenings to water fights in the hot afternoon, your kids will never be bored. We also offer the occasional game of sagebrush golf, fishing, roping lessons, target shooting, and —the legendary— mud soccer. Fun guaranteed.
Food/Dining: Our historic Lodge is the heart of life at T Cross. This designated historic treasure was built by hand in 1930 with indigenous materials. T Cross cuisine is hearty ranch food with a touch of elegance. Homemade breads and desserts are a specialty. We are happy to accommodate special diets if requested in advance. Meals are served in the Lodge dining room except for Wednesday supper cookouts on Horse Creek.

Dinner begins with a happy hour for adults at 6:00 pm in the Lodge living room. Set-ups and hors d’ oeuvres are provided. Bring your own bottle. Dinner follows in the dining room about 6:30 pm. At dinner, long pants and a collared shirt are a rule. And in Western tradition – and elsewhere we believe – all hats come off.
